Ice-blue glaciers, splashing waterfalls and crisp green deciduous trees form the breathtaking backdrop of the nature documentary Songs of Earth.

Director Margreth Olin returns to her birthplace, the enchanting Oldedalen valley in Norway, for a loving ode to this majestic environment - but also to her parents, who still have a deep-rooted love for each other after all these years. In this poetic journey we follow Olin and her 84-year-old father Jørgen, who serves as his daughter's wise guide for a year. As Jørgen walks through his familiar surroundings, he shares the stories that are rooted in generations.

This is where his ancestors grew up, fell in love and started families, amid the natural shifts and floods that are part of life in this capricious nature. Olin's lens captures not only the spectacular panorama, but also the silence and serenity that prevails amid the rugged mountains, wildlife and timeless stories that belong to the valley.

The breathtaking landscape is accompanied almost exclusively by the sounds of nature, which the London Contemporary Orchestra translated into melodies. A grand natural spectacle, built on a personal history.
